I started looking more in depth into the problem and noticed that a fishing hook was under something making the cartridges not go all the way across the rod!! It seems popular. The printer does seem to be working again now.
Hardware Error 0502 on LCD Display Check the encoder strip on the printer. (This is a clear strip running the length of the printer, above or behind the cartridge carrier.) CLEAN the shiny silver bar that is connected to the carriers using a dry cloth, from left to right in one direction.9. You saved me lots of money and saved the printer unnecessary disposal!
